In this video, I talk about how we went from those massive, constantly-running series to the more seasonal anime landscape we have today, why that change happened, and what I think we lose when a series isn’t around every single week for years at a time.
This isn’t me saying that shorter anime are bad, or that every story needs hundreds of episodes. If a story can tell everything it needs to tell and end naturally, that’s a good thing. I’m more interested in the experience that came with those massive series, and whether we’re slowly watching that era disappear.
