Jaguar F-Pace SVR vs BMW X3 M Competition vs Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4
Engineered by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), with a 44% uplift in power, the #Jaguar F-Pace SVR's 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine produces 550PS and 680Nm, enabling it to reach 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds) with a top speed of 176mph (283km/h).
Aerodynamic enhancements include larger air intakes at the front and side fender vents that lower pressure in the wheelarches, reduce lift and provide additional cooling while also optimising high-speed stability. In addition, unique wheel arch extensions and lower body mouldings provide a low-slung muscularity that sets the SVR apart.
New, lightweight forged 21- and optional 22-inch alloy wheels are wider at the rear by 25mm compared to the front and contribute to the SVR's enhanced handling. The 22-inch wheels are 2.4kg lighter on the front and 1.7kg lighter on the rear and are designed to deliver greater airflow to the uprated larger 395mm front and 396mm rear brake discs.
The addition to the #BMW M GmbH line-up of its first high-performance models in the mid-size Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segments also heralds the arrival of a newly developed sixcylinder in-line engine in two variants. The engine stands out with its familiar M high-revving character, the latest M TwinPower Turbo technology update, plus track-tested cooling and oil supply systems. It develops 353 kW/480 hp in the BMW #X3 M and BMW X4 M, and an even mightier 375 kW/510 hp in the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition.
The standout performance characteristics of the 3.0-litre units are encapsulated by the linear power development that is such an M speciality, plus a hunger for revs quelled only by the engine's limiter. And all to the tune of an arresting soundtrack. Like the maximum output figure, peak torque of 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) also represents a new high point for a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine from BMW.
The six-cylinder in-line engine serves up its peak torque between 2,600 and 5,600 rpm in the BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M, and between 2,600 and 5,950 rpm in the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition. It generates maximum output at 6,250 rpm and sustains its potent power delivery until the 7,200 rpm "red line". The BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, while the Competition models hit the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark in a mere 4.1 seconds. The top speed of all models is an electronically governed 250 km/h (155 mph). But if the optional M Driver's Package is specified, this limit rises to 280 km/h (174 mph) - or 285 km/h (177 mph) for the Competition models.
#Alfa #Romeo #Stelvio #Quadrifoglio is equipped with the exclusive aluminium 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo petrol engine, developed with inputs from Ferrari technologies and engineering know-how, which delivers maximum power of 510 HP at 6,500 rpm and generates a maximum torque of 600 Nm from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. This power plant is teamed with the specifically calibrated eight-speed automatic transmission that allows gear shifts in just 150 milliseconds in Race driving mode. Moreover, to maximise the driving experience, the model is equipped as standard with one-piece aluminium paddle shifters integral with the steering column.
Its performance is outstanding: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and best-in-class top speed of 283 km/h. But the Alfa Romeo sports SUV is also incredibly efficient in terms of emission and fuel consumption, thanks to its electronically controlled cylinder deactivation system and the "sailing" function, available in Advanced Efficiency driving mode.
For the first time, the 510 HP 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo petrol engine is combined with the innovative Q4 all-wheel drive system, with its guarantees of unbeatable performance, traction, driving pleasure and safety in all situations. What's more, Stelvio Quadrifoglio is equipped with the exclusive AlfaTM Chassis Domain Control unit and is the only SUV in its class to provide differential AlfaTM Active Torque Vectoring as standard. Also standard equipment is the innovative AlfaTM Active Suspension, the system that continually, actively controls the suspensions and shock absorbers. Not to mention that Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio guarantees impeccable handing and comfort thanks to its suspension layout, with the exclusive AlfaLinkTM technology: up front it has a double wishbone system with semi-virtual steering axis, with a four-and-a-half link Multilink system at the rear. In any situation and at all speeds, driving the Quadrifoglio SUV, with the most direct steering ratio on the market (12.1:1), is natural and instinctive.
