Many have been waiting a long time for Mazda to offer a diesel powered vehicle in North America, and that finally arrived last year in the form of the CX-5 Skyactiv turbo diesel.
This is a smooth powerplant, and has plenty of torque, which makes it feel very peppy out on the road. But how quick is it?
We at Automotive Affairs decided to find out, and hence put a CX-5 diesel through our 0 to 100 km/h acceleration test.
To make things even more interesting, we also timed a new 2020 Mazda CX-9 - which features a turbocharged gasoline (petrol) engine. The CX-9 has more power and torque, but also weighs 200 kg more than the CX-5 diesel - so which one will be quicker?
