The pioneer of the coupe-style SUV segment is back with a completely redesigned exterior, a good dose of power and innovative technologies at the cutting edge.

The new BMW X6 2020 third-generation grew slightly in terms of length (+26 mm), width (+42 mm) and wheelbase (+15 mm), but lost 16 millimeters in height. It is the first vehicle of the brand to feature an illuminated grille, which operates at the same time as the daytime running lights and can remain active on the road.
The grille is flanked by thin LED headlights with adaptive lighting. Large openings in the front bumper and protruding lines also give the X6 a more aggressive look than on the old model. The standard 20-inch alloy wheels can be replaced with 21- or 22-inch wheels with performance tires.

Of course, what distinguishes this SUV the most from a model like the X5 is its very sloping roofline, which incorporates a double bubble back and extremely subtle fins at the top of the tailgate. The redesigned LED taillights have a sensational look, while the bottom of the rear bumper incorporates chrome exhaust contours. An M Sport package gives the X6 an even sharper look.

A cockpit that will make you see stars
The new panoramic roof of the BMW X6 2020 has a glass surface 83% larger than the outgoing model. The Sky Lounge option adds 15,000 illuminated points to reproduce a starry sky.

A digital key on your smartphone gives you access to the interior, whose layout has been refocused more on the driver and improved in quality and finish. Vernasca leather (available in several color combinations), sports seats and a chic floor covering called Sensatec on the dashboard are included as standard.

The menu also features superb ambient lighting and an illuminated welcome mat on the floor near the driver's door. As an option, some of the controls such as the shifter, the iDrive wheel, the start button, and the volume knob can be made of glass.

The new-generation iDrive infotainment system consists of a 12.3-inch high-resolution digital screen behind the steering wheel and another identical-size screen on the center block - the largest within the range of BMW. You can also opt for a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 20-speaker 1500-watt surround sound system and enjoy tempered cupholders.

As for the loading capacity, the rear seats fold in a proportion of 40/20/40 to enlarge the trunk from 580 to 1525 liters.

Do you like power? You will be served!
The latest evolution of BMW's 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine powers the new X6 xDrive40i. We are talking here about the horsepower of 335 horsepower (+33) and a torque of 330 lb-ft (+35), the latter being accessible from 1500 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is almost a second faster.

The more muscular alternative lies in the X6 M50i. This is a new version of BMW's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that develops 523 horsepower (+78) and 553 pound-feet of torque (+74). Performance buffs will be thrilled, especially with the M Sport exhaust as standard on this model. Get ready to reach 100 km / h in just over four seconds, about half a second shorter than before.
Every X6 2020 puts on an eight-speed Steptronic Sport box that has been improved to reduce fuel consumption. On the other hand, the xDrive full power train transfers power exclusively to the rear wheels when the front-wheel drive is not needed, making driving more dynamic. Option groups now add active four-wheel steering for more maneuverability, and additional driving modes to better cope with off-road conditions.

The BMW X6 2020 will be assembled in South Carolina alongside the X3, X4, X5 and X7. It will arrive in Canada in November and prices will be known by then.
