The Vanquish was released for the 2012 model year to replace the DBS as the top-ranging model of Aston Martin's series production cars. It represents the final development stage of the long-running VH platform, which was phased out by the new generation aluminium platform from the DB11.
It also received several updates over its lifetime, including an upgraded engine with 568 hp (424 kW) and 465 ft·lb (630 N·m) for the 2014 model year. In 2016, the Vanquish S, with a more powerful 595 hp (444 kW) engine and a new aerodynamic kit, was introduced for the 2017 model year.
The Vanquish has very similar dimensions to the DBS and better weight distribution but gained almost 100 lb (45 kg). It also received a series of improvements for its 5.9 litre V12 engine, which now produces 565 hp (421 kW) at 6650 rpm and 457 ft·lb (620 N·m) at 5500 rpm.
