Did you know that in Australia the seasons are reversed? Our winter is their summer. So, while our Santa Claus is climbing down chimneys in a thick fur coat and probably sweating like crazy, their Santa is tossing presents to merry beachgoers from atop his magical surfboard. Watch out for those jellyfish, Santa! Nah, he’ll be alright.

Anyway, here up north winter is the season to cozy up inside and watch anime, or “Japanimation” as people used to call it back in the 90s. I think people stopped using that term because it was just too long. Calling it “anime” saves you two entire syllables, and when you talk about Japanese cartoons as often as I do, that extra time becomes very noticeable.
Just the other day I was able to catch a bus I would otherwise have missed if I’d been using the word “Japanimation” in my conversation with our local street sweeper, Larry. A good man. Larry told me he recently watched the Chainsaw Man movie and that he really enjoyed it.
Fun fact: Santa Claus also exists in the Chainsaw Man universe and he looks like a Japanese woman in her 30s, but I don’t think she gives out any presents.

It’s already almost April, why am I still talking about Christmas presents? Time goes by so fast sometimes. But hey, at least I saved those two syllables. This time I used them to fix my mic a little. Next time for sure.
